Daughter of Mountain (Shaila) has trained extensively in yoga, both in Australia and India. She has a Diploma in Yogic Studies from Satyananda Yoga Academy (equivalent of 2000 hours or 2 years full-time study). She has also trained under the guidance of yoga master Swami Niranjananda Saraswati at the Bihar School of Yoga, India, where she lived for 12 months in 2012.

Her style is traditional and holistic, with a standard class incorporating not only physical poses, but also breathing and meditation practices. She also offers nada (sound) yoga classes, in which participants are introduced to the musical/sound aspects of yoga in the form of mantras and chanting.

Shaila enjoys teaching restorative forms of yoga, such as yin yoga and yoga nidra, whilst also deriving satisfaction from stronger hatha and ashtanga practices which help to develop strength and power.

A particular interest for Shaila are the more esoteric aspects of yoga, such as chakra awareness, yogic philopsophy and mindfulness, as well as ceremonial elements, such as 'havan' or sacred healing fire ceremony.

In recent years, she has taught predominantly at Qi Yoga and Manly Yoga in Sydney, whilst also offering yoga workshops at various studios and retreats, and private harmonium and yoga trainings both in person and online.

She has recently moved to Maleny in the Sunshine Coast hinterland with her young family and is looking forward to recommencing teaching when the time is right.
