Lying in the Earth and Kissing
I want to lie with you in the earth and kiss.
I want the blood of my womb to mix with the red of the soil
And the salt of your life force.
I want you to carve the arch of my back into the wet sandstone
As the crest of the wave breaks into whiteness and chaos.
I want to hear my name inside the earth
As you close your eyes and weep tears of summer rain.
I want the thunderstorm to last forever
As I hold you against my heart,
As you shake at the sight of my reflection
In the lightning that moves faster
Even than the sound of AUM.
I want to slide my breasts across your chest
As I melt back into the clay from whence I came
And feel your breath deepen at my return.
When the fire comes to devour all that must die
So that we may live, my love,
I will throw myself into its flames
And watch as you scatter my ashes
amidst the four elements of my own self,
and sleep awhile amidst the dust of our abandoned bones,
as they ripen the earth for the waking seed of our rebirth.
