Fire needs space

If you saw me dancing,

perhaps you’d remember me,

see me in my elements

and remember I am fire,

water, ether, air and earth,

the space that holds you,

the emptiness you are seeking

to breathe.

If you saw me dancing,

perhaps you’d remember

what caught your spirit

that very first moment,

something above a mountain,

and below a moon, something

above a form, and beyond

a name...

A fire needs space

like love needs grace,

and that is the heart we buried

deep in dry, lifeless twigs, and fallen

leaves, the debris of all

that’s already been

and gone.

It was space that protected us

by keeping us contained in freedom

and just as holding on now is losing ground,

letting go then was rising up, and being found.
